Lemar has extensive experience in civil and commercial litigation having worked with some of Jamaica’s leading complex issues litigators. He has appeared before all the courts in Jamaica including the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal. He has appeared as both lead and instructing counsel before the various courts and tribunals

He also has extensive experience in corporate and commercial transactions having worked at one of the leading corporate & commercial law firms in Jamaica. He has experience particularly in corporate restructuring, corporate finance, corporate securities, delisting and privatization of public listed companies, estate planning, creating offshore trusts and companies, negotiating, preparing and vetting commercial contracts including commercial leases, licences, shareholders’ agreements, partnership agreements, joint ventures, media production agreements, investment agreements and preparing legal opinions on a variety of corporate and commercial matters.

Lemar is an Adjunct Lecturer in Contract Law in the Faculty of Law at the University of the West Indies, Mona and has lectured Civil Procedure and Practice at the Paralegal Training Institute. He has lectured Contract Law at the University of the Commonwealth Caribbean on the University of London International Programme both the Bachelor of Laws and Certificate of Higher Education in Common Law programmes and taught CAPE Law at the pre-university level.

Demar is experienced in complex commercial litigation particularly in the areas of copyright infringement, commercial litigation and family law. He appeared as counsel in several high profile cases including the recent copyright infringement case involving two of Jamaica’s largest media houses.

He has also appeared as both lead and instructing counsel and has instructed Queen’s Counsel in numerous complex cases before the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal.

Demar has been called to the Ontario Bar as a Barrister and Solicitor and is a Notary Public for the province of Ontario, Canada. He is currently pursuing his qualification as a Patent and Trademark agent in Canada with a focus on Intellectual Property law. He has appeared before the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario to prosecute breaches of the Ontario Human Rights Code.

Prior to joining the firm, Demar Kemar was a lecturer in Family Law at the University of the Commonwealth Caribbean on the University of London International Programme and has extensive knowledge and experience in both the banking and microfinance sectors.

Georgia is a Consultant to the firm. She is the Managing Partner of Georgia Hamilton & Co. She has been admitted to practice in Jamaica since 2004 and has been in private practice since November 2005. Georgia is a graduate of the Normal Manley Law School as well as a two-time graduate of the University of the West Indies where she read for a Bachelor of Arts in Media and Communication as well as a Bachelor of Laws.

Before becoming an attorney-at-law, Georgia worked for General Accident Insurance Company Limited as its Legal Officer which required her to assume full responsibility for claims settlement and negotiations, compliance as well as corporate and commercial matters. Immediately after graduating from Law School, Georgia served as an Associate in the law firm, Chancellor & Company. This law firm has now merged with Rattray Patterson Rattray, Attorneys-at-Law.
